Meridith Baer Home Staged Coxhead House—an Historic Landmark in Northern California
San Mateo, CA is a Silicon Valley city better known for technology than history. But amidst its thriving contemporary culture sits a 19th century English Tudor home called Coxhead House that’s keeping the beauty and spirit of tradition alive.
Built in 1891 by noted British architect Ernest Albert Coxhead, the property is both a national and California state historic landmark. It was recently put on market, staged to sell by Meridith Baer Home!
The home, its sale, and our staging are featured in the latest issue of PUNCH magazine, in a story called Coxhead House: Window Into History. The piece details the house’s charming history and explores the inherent challenge in updating a traditional property for contemporary buyers.
Meridith Baer Home handled the staging and relished the assignment of conveying contemporary living in an historic setting. “We chose to honor the historic elements of the house and not fight it,” says designer Sabrina Ferrand. “You have to respect the home. You bring in certain pieces that nod to it, making the flow cohesive while acknowledging what’s there.”
We staged the listing for Scott Syme of Syme Group Real Estate Services.
