Frequently Asked Questions

Why do I need an interior designer?

Many of our clients have a wonderful sense of style and specific ideas about pieces, colors, and fabrics. These details, however, aren’t enough to create successful interiors. Professional designers see the big picture, helping to clarify the overall vision for your space and how you want it to feel. With years of expertise, deep knowledge of brands, and longstanding vendor relationships, they escort their projects to smooth finishes and prevent costly mistakes along the way.

How is home staging different from interior design?

Home staging is the art of presenting properties for sale. Our staged interiors are temporary installs designed to appeal to a broad range of buyers, inspiring them to bid fast and high.

Interior design is the process of creating a personal space that reflects your unique lifestyle, tastes, and needs. Let Meridith Baer Home transform your house or business so it feels truly and completely yours.

What is the difference between a decorator and a designer?

Decorators can help with the styling and finishing of a space, helping to choose color palettes, furniture, and other details. They aren’t qualified to participate in structural planning or renovations, and don’t often have the formal training or education of a certified designer.

Designers can move a project from initial construction drafts all the way to final decorative touches. In concert with architects and contractors, they manage full renovations, maximizing the beauty and improving the function of interiors by consulting with clients about how they might best be used. Designers are required to have an advanced degree in Interior Design, special certifications in the field, and knowledge of construction requirements and codes.

How involved will I need to be in the interior design process?

As your project begins, we’ll need your detailed input to help establish your style, functional needs, and other objectives. Once your design plan is drafted and approved, you can choose to participate in as little or as much of the decision-making as you’d like. Some clients prefer a hands-off approach while others want to be an active part of the process. We’re happy to accommodate either preference.

Where do you offer your interior design services?

With offices across the country and deep international relationships, our team’s reach is nearly limitless. Specifically, however, we have active studios in Southern California, Silicon Valley, New York and The Hamptons, and South Florida.
